Samsung S25 Ultra: How to Make Your Screen Bright Automatically When Using Camera

You know that feeling when you step out in the bright sun to take a photo, but you can’t see anything on your screen? It happens to everyone.

I recently got the Samsung S25 Ultra, and the camera is amazing. But I faced this one annoying issue. Every time I went outside to click a picture, my screen brightness was too low. I had to squint my eyes, pull down the notification bar, and increase the brightness manually. By the time I did all that, the moment was gone.

I knew there had to be a better way. I didn't want to keep my phone on full brightness all day because that kills the battery. I just wanted it bright only when I was taking photos.

Well, I found a fix. It’s a hidden setting called "Modes and Routines," and honestly, it changed how I use my phone. Here is how you can set it up too.

What is this trick?

Samsung phones have a feature that works like a simple command center. You can tell the phone, "Hey, when I open this app, do this change for me."

We are going to tell the phone to push the brightness to 100% the moment the Camera opens. And the best part? As soon as you close the camera, the brightness goes back to normal automatically. No touching any buttons.

How I set it up (The Easy Steps)

You don’t need to be a tech genius to do this. I’ll walk you through it exactly how I did it on my phone.

Step 1: Go to Settings

Unlock your phone and open the main Settings menu.

Step 2: Find "Modes and Routines"

Scroll down a bit until you see Modes and Routines. Tap on it. At the bottom of the screen, you will see two tabs—tap on the one that says Routines.

Step 3: Start a New Rule

Look at the top right corner. You will see a small plus (+) sign. Tap that to start a fresh setting.

Step 4: The "If" Part

The phone will ask you "If" (basically, when should this happen?).

  • Tap on the box that says Add what will trigger this routine.
  • Scroll and pick App opened.
  • Search for Camera, select it, and hit Done.
Step 5: The "Then" Part

Now the phone asks "Then" (what should I do?).

  • Tap on Add what this routine will do.
  • Go to Display and then pick Brightness.
  • Slide that bar all the way to 100%.
(Note: If you use Power Saving mode a lot like me, you need to add one extra small step here. Add another action, go to Battery, and tell it to turn Power Saving OFF. If you don’t do this, the brightness won't go up.)
Step 6: Finish Up

Just hit Save. You can name it "Camera Brightness" or whatever you like.

Why I love this setting

Since I did this, taking photos has become so much smoother. Last weekend, I was at a family function outdoors. While everyone else was shading their phone screens with their hands to see the photo, my S25 Ultra screen was glowing bright. I could see the framing perfectly.

It just feels like the phone is smart enough to know what I need.

Common Questions People Ask

Will this drain my battery faster?

Not really. Think about it—the screen is bright only for the few minutes you are taking photos. Once you close the camera, it dims down. So, it actually saves battery compared to keeping high brightness all the time.

Is it safe for the phone?

Yes, totally. This is a built-in Samsung feature, not some risky hack. The phone is designed to handle it.

Can I do this for watching videos too?

Yep! You can follow the same steps. Instead of selecting "Camera" in Step 4, just select "YouTube" or "Netflix." I use it for YouTube too so I don't have to adjust brightness for every video.

What if I don't like it?

Simple. Just go back to the Routines page, press and hold the routine you created, and delete it. Your phone will be back to normal instantly.
