Play Market Fix: What to Do If Google Play Market Asks for a Certificate

A missing registration in Google's database may be the cause of an Android phone message requesting a certificate in the Google Play Market or stating that the device is not certified. Custom ROMs, rooted phones, and unofficially certified devices are frequently the source of this problem. This is a detailed tutorial on how to resolve the problem:

✅ Step-by-Step Fix for Play Market Certificate Issues

1. Check IMEI Number

The phone must have a valid IMEI number.

  • Dial *#06# or check in Settings > About phone > Status > IMEI.
  • If the IMEI is missing or shows as "unknown," fix it first before proceeding.

2. Install Device ID.apk

Download and install the Device ID app from a trusted source (like APKMirror).
This app will help you retrieve important device information, especially the Google Service Framework (GSF) ID.

3. Get the GSF Number

Open Device ID and locate the Google Service Framework (GSF) ID.
It will look something like: 39А7998AEE6B9119.

4. Register Your Device with Google

Go to the following site:

  • Scroll down and enter the GSF ID in the field provided.
  • Click Register.
  • Wait a few minutes for the registration to process.

5. Clear Cache Data

Now clear cache and data for the following apps:

  • Google Play Market
  • Google Play Services

Go to:
Settings > Apps > See all apps > Google Play Store > Storage > Clear Cache & Clear Data
Do the same for Google Play Services.

6. Restart Your Phone

Turn your phone off and back on.
After reboot, open Play Market. The certificate error should be gone.

❗ Still Not Working?

If the Play Market still does not function:

✅ Final Tips:

  • Ensure internet is stable during registration.
  • Some changes may take a few hours to sync.
  • Make sure Google Play and Play Services are updated to the latest versions.
