PixelFlasher is an application designed to flash (update) Pixel™ phones, and it may also work with other Google™ made phones and tablets. It provides a user-friendly interface that utilizes adb/fastboot commands, making it accessible to both Pixel and non-Pixel device users. One of its notable features is its self-contained executable, eliminating the need to install Python™ on the system.

The basic mode of PixelFlasher for most users and offers the following features:

Simple UI Interface: With a click-and-go approach, users can navigate the application without using the command line or consolidating files in a single directory.

boot.img Management: Users can easily select the boot.img file they wish to patch and click the patch button. The patching process is fully automated with Magisk, eliminating the need for manual steps. Additionally, users can perform upgrades without losing root access.

Streamlined Flashing Process: PixelFlasher eliminates the manual extraction of files, transferring them to the phone, patching, re-flashing, and multiple reboots.

Safetynet Compatibility: There's no need to enable airplane mode or clear storage to ensure Safetynet passes.

Display Boot.img Details: Users can view various details of the boot.img file, such as its SHA1 checksum, origin (extracted file), patch status, Magisk version used for patching, device compatibility, patching date, and the SHA1 of the source boot.img file.

Live Boot Option: Users can choose to live boot from a selection of boot.img or the patched image.

Flashing Flexibility: Users have the option to flash just the boot/init_boot image and choose to keep or wipe data while flashing. PixelFlasher also supports flashing even when multiple devices are connected to the computer and offer the ability to flash to the inactive slot.

Device Information: Users can access various details about their phone, including ID, hardware model, device architecture, currently installed firmware (build), Magisk root status, Magisk version, Magisk Manager version, list of installed Magisk modules, connection mode (Adb, Fastboot, Sideload, Recovery), bootloader version, active slot, and Android OS API version. The application provides convenient quick links to download Android platform tools or device firmware.

Magisk Manager Integration: PixelFlasher incorporates Magisk Manager's installation UI, allowing users to install different Magisk versions, including stable, beta, canary, debug, alpha, delta, and a special build used for recovery from bootloops caused by problematic modules.

Magisk Backup Manager: Users can manage their Magisk backups, view the list of backups on the device, highlight the backup corresponding to the currently installed version, delete backups, and manually add backups from their PC. PixelFlasher also features an auto backup option that identifies necessary files for backup on the PC and creates the backup automatically.

Magisk Modules Management: Users can selectively enable/disable Magisk modules, providing a convenient way to disable suspicious modules before performing an upgrade. The module management interface displays module names, versions, descriptions, and enabled/disabled status.

Additional Tools: PixelFlasher offers the ability to display the installed Android Platform Tools (SDK) version and provides warnings/blocking if an outdated version is detected. Users can install APK files from their computer onto the device.

The application provides an expert mode that should only be used by experienced users. In addition to the basic features, the expert mode offers advanced functionalities, including flashing custom ROMs (with or without patching boot.img), flashing to both slots, disabling verify and/or verification, changing the active slot, live booting to custom boot.img for temporary root access, booting to recovery, flashing custom images (boot, recovery, radio, kernel), sideloading images, locking/unlocking the bootloader, and gaining temporary root access for testing purposes. The expert mode also includes an experimental feature to disable Magisk modules to resolve bootloop issues.

The latest release of PixelFlasher is version 5.1.0.2, released on May 25, 2023. It includes improvements such as skipping the testing of fastboot in dry run mode if the Android platform tools version is greater than 34, as fastboot is no longer supported in recent versions (at least version 34.0.3). Previous releases, such as version 5.1.0.1, addressed exception handling when the device is not listed as a Pixel device, and version 5.1.0.0 introduced support for Android platform tools version 34.0.3 and implemented a temporary workaround for selecting root method patching when Magisk Delta is detected. The update includes several kinds of improvements and bug fixes.

Simply double-click on the executable file to launch PixelFlasher after installation. It doesn't require a formal installation process.
